Derry Girls writer and producer Lisa McGee is back with an explosive new stage show that has already been described by critics as “Hilarious and heart-breaking in equal measure”.
Girls & Dolls will show at the SSE Arena, Belfast from Tuesday September 25-27 and stars Derry Girls actress Jamie Lee O’Donnell and The Young Offenders star Jennifer Barry.
Set in Northern Ireland 1980 characters Emma and Clare are best friends, thick as thieves they do everything most girls of their age do, skip, chase and play in the park.
But the terrible events of that summer would tear their lives apart, binding them together forever. As adults they obsessively replay past events and incidents and wonder could anything have been done to change them?
For Emma and Clare the summer of 1980 was when they met at the swings, the summer they built a tree house and the summer a young mother and her infant daughter moved into number 14.
All that is a distant memory as the now 30-year-olds struggle to come to terms with the chain of devastating events that began that summer.
