Road Closure Notice in Carrickfergus

On behalf of Mid and East Borough Council, I would like to give notice that Castle Street, High Street, North Street and West Street, Carrickfergus, will be closed to traffic on Saturday 16 November, 10.30am to 6.30pm approximately.

This is to allow for set up and to ensure the health and safety of all those attending the annual Christmas lights switch-on that is taking place from 2-6pm. Car parks will be operating as normal.

I would be grateful for your co-operation in this regard and I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. If you have any queries please email events@midandeastantrim.gov.uk

For reference, the running order for the day is as follows:
2pm – Event starts, entertainment on throughout the day. Street entertainment, face painting, Christmas carnival games, kiddies fun fair, toast your own marshmallows, balloon modelling, selfie with a giant bauble and outdoor cinema.

  • 2pm – 4pm – Meet the reindeer
  • 4pm – 4.55pm – Civic Carol Service in St Nicholas Church
  • 5.30pm (approx.) – Switch on by Councillor Cheryl Johnston
  • 5.45pm – 6pm (approx.) – Fireworks from Fisherman’s Quay (weather dependent)
